Benefits of Traditional toys

Increased socialization and peer interaction:

Certain tech toys like video games and apps can take over children’s interaction with others. If a kid is playing a video game while isolating themselves in their room or basement, think about moving the console into the family room where you can bond with your kid and they aren’t shut in from the outside world. In contrast

When a child plays with blocks, puzzles, or board games it provides social interaction for everyone to be involved.

Creative thinking: The use of traditional toys also prompts greater creative thinking and free play where children use toys and other additional props to create imaginative scenes.

Toys like kitchen set / cooking set for example, lends itself to a wide range of possible play scenarios engaging vivid use of the child’s imagination and creativity.

Emotional support: Traditional toys typically relate to real life scenarios and community care workers like Doctor/ Nurses / teachers / social workers allowing children to indulge in pretend play and learn how these care workers provide essential services to the society.

Improved Language and communication: It appear that traditional toys have a positive effect on communication between parents and infants where it has potential for exchange of more words, expressions between the primary care giver and the child than with electronic toys.

Eco friendly and cost effective:  Traditional toys include, figurines from terracotta, puppets from betel nut and cloth. These remain the most eco-friendly toys possible. The materials were taken from local resources and painted with natural dyes

Nature friendly:  Activities like reading e books on tablets are good but only for short period as the light can hurt the eyes and it is always better to invest on texture books.

Texture books for infants help to develop the sense of touch and when they start learning how to read, give them age-appropriate books to enhance their reading ability.

Traditional toys such as balls, jump ropes, kids are not only outside getting some fresh air, but they’re learning about sports, outdoor art and being active all while still having fun in the sun.
