Intellectual Disability
Intellectual disability refers to limitations in a person's ability to learn and function in daily life. Children with this disability may learn and develop more slowly than their peers. It can be caused by injury, disease, or brain issues that occur before the age of 18.
Signs of Intellectual Disability
While signs can vary, some common indicators include:
- Sitting up, crawling, or walking later than other children.
- Learning to talk later or having trouble speaking.
- Difficulty remembering things or understanding social rules.
- Trouble seeing the results of their actions or solving problems.
Seeking Help
If you have concerns, it is important to consult your child’s doctor. Seeking a referral to a Developmental Paediatrician or another specialist for early intervention can make a significant difference.
